MIDWAY TEAM G? (GIANTS???) - Early 1960's Phill's dad, Roy Norton, helped start Midway and he served as President of Midway Ball Park while it was being built. In the beginning, Midway teams played with a chicken wire backstop in a field across from Midway Elementary School. There was no fence in outfield and the field sloped away from home plate. Phill also remembers if the ball went past an outfielder, it was an automatic homerun.
